About this Event

A Season for Love explores the journey of modern relationships and the power of connection. Told through the lens of Black love, this film captures both the joy and challenges of finding intimacy in today’s world, where authenticity and vulnerability intersect. With nuanced storytelling, the film presents characters navigating their own personal and shared struggles to find lasting love.

Join Auburn Public Theater and Terrance McLeod this Valentine's Day for a new film celebrating love, and then a Q&A with the director.

Director's Statement:

A Season for Love is more than just a film to me, it’s a deeply personal

reflection of my experiences, emotions, and aspirations as a storyteller.

I made this film to explore the beauty, complexity, and vulnerability of

love, particularly through the lens of Black relationships. In a world that

often misrepresents or oversimplifies our stories, I wanted to create

something authentic, something that feels honest and grounded in the

quiet, everyday moments that define connection.

This film allowed me to celebrate the nuances of Black love, the

struggles, the triumphs, the unspoken understandings and the courage

it takes to be truly seen by another person. A Season for Love is my

attempt to capture those fleeting moments that are often overlooked:

the conversations that linger in the mind, the silences that speak

volumes, and the resilience it takes to weather the seasons of life and

love.

I made this film because I believe in the power of storytelling to foster

empathy and understanding. It’s my hope that A Season for Love

resonates with audiences, not just as a love story, but as a mirror

reflecting pieces of their own experiences, fears, and hopes. This

project is a labor of love in every sense—one that I hope will inspire,

comfort, and spark conversations about what it means to truly connect

with another human being.

After the viewing the film, there will be a Q&A with director Terrance McLeod.
