Join us in the Community Room for a reading by Dr. Michael Fine from his newest book, The Jewish Prince of Denmark and Other Stories. The Jewish Prince of Denmark and Other Stories is a collection of short stories "about Jews and non-Jews, living together in a confusing world and trying to find a way to continue to do so, in a world that keeps changing, collapsing in on itself, the ground changing under everyone’s feet. Stories about endless heartbreak, small choices, small acts, small ideas, simple decencies, the way people take care of one another, people who live in the shadow of the valley of death but persevere."
It has been praised by Torey Malathia of the Public’s Radio, who called Fine a “masterful author”, and by Deborah H. Siegel, Ph.D, LICSW, who says that the book “resonates with a sense of humor and healing, hopeful spirit.”
Dr. Fine is the author of On Medicine as Colonialism (2023), Health Care Revolt (2018), The Nature of Health (Radcliffe Press, 2007), Rhode Island Stories (Stillwater River Press, 2021), The Bull and Other Stories (Stillwater River Press, November 2020) the IPNE 2021 Literary Fiction Book of the Year, and Abundance (PM Press, 2019).
