Come for a quiet yin yoga retreat and turn your attention inward to reflect on this season of life
About this Event

This 2.5 hour candle-lit, led yin yoga practice will include soul journaling and meditation as part of a deep, quiet practice of stillness. Led by Kate Lassiter, PhD, students are encouraged to show up as they are and to feel into the moment. Students are invited to bring their personal journals and favorite pen. All students will be provided journaling prompts and a Spotify playlist by email following the retreat.

Yin yoga is a slow-paced style that emphasizes stretching the connective tissues of the body--the ligaments, joints, bones, and fascia. It combines deep fascial network stretching with a targeted approach that also stimulates the meridians of the body. It incorporates long holds (3-5 minutes) and deep breathing in seated and supine positions. Props are used and participants are encouraged to find the way that the pose wants to rest in their body. As Kate likes to say, "You may not sweat in Yin, but you will work something out."

About your teacher:

With a voice that calms nerves, Kate (E-RYT 200, RYT-500, YACEP) specializes in the Taoist yoga tradition. She completed her 200-hour training with Matt Eshelman at You Do Yoga, focusing on functional anatomy and yin yoga, and her 500-hour training with Will Brashear at Lotus Yoga Temple, focusing on the integration of Thai Yoga, the meridians, and five element theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Kate draws from her vast skill set across the yogic tradition and healing arts, her love for the land, and her doctoral training in Religion and Psychology to offer classes and workshops that invite students toward embodied wisdom and inner knowing. Her own asana practice regularly includes yin and vinyasa. An avid outdoorswoman, she also loves being outside on her bike, in a kayak, on a mountain, in the lake... When she’s not teaching yoga, Kate directs the field education program at Chicago Theological Seminary, writes on gender, health, and religion, and provides organizations support through her consulting business (www.katharinelassiter.com).
