Sara M. Saleh is a human rights lawyer, organiser, writer, and the daughter of migrants from Palestine, Egypt, and Lebanon. Her poems, short stories, and essays have been published in English and Arabic in Australian Poetry Journal, Overland, Meanjin, Cordite Poetry Review, Red Room Poetry, K*ll Your Darlings, Rabbit Poetry Journal, and SBS, amongst others. She is co-editor of the ground-breaking anthology Arab, Australian, Other.
Sara made history as the first poet to win both the Australian Book Review’s 2021 Peter Porter Poetry Prize and the Overland Judith Wright Poetry Prize 2020.
Her debut novel Songs for the Dead and the Living and a full-length poetry collection, The Flirtation of Girls are featured this evening.
Joachim Matschoss was born in Germany and is local to Eltham. He is a gifted playwright, poet and Theatre-maker. His Theatre Company, ‘Backyard Theatre Ensemble (BYTE)’ presents diverse pieces of theatre in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, India, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Hungary, Taiwan, Switzerland and China. Joachim’s poetry is published in Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom and the USA.His anthologies at ELTHAMbookshop include Stolpersteine, Sidewalk Theatre,and dew on mornings past.
His new collection ‘ a time heavy with life ‘ is launched this evening.

Manisha Anjali is a writer and artist working with text, performance and installation. Her practice and research explores narratives and languages of dreams and exile. Manisha was born in Suva, Fiji and raised in Aotearoa.
