Since the beginning of the 19th century, Americans near and far would go to a cemetery and have a picnic. We don’t see this too often anymore, as now a days our lives are busy and recreational time needs scheduled.Has it been a while since you visited a grave of a friend or family member? No local family buried here? That’s ok ! Toledo has numerous park like cemeteries.
Let’s picnic with them and visit any cemetery of your choosing. Bring the family, friends or come solo. Throw down a blanket and have a bite to eat while visiting a grave. Let’s make this a memorable event and fill our cemeteries with visitors while enjoying the day at a not so traditional park. Stay an hour or all day. Our cemeteries are beautiful and ideal for just getting out and walking. ! Take the opportunity to grab some beautiful photos as well!
This event can be done in any cemetery of your choosing. We ask that all children are supervised by an adult and ALL TRASH is picked up before you leave. If you decide to decorate a grave, make sure it follows the cemetery guidelines as well. This is an all day event, and no formal time to show up. Come and go when the time works for you.
We will be out visiting cemeteries and hope to see you picnicking with us. Please take pictures and send them to us as well, so we can highlight this for future picnics! Rain date will be Sunday, June 23rd, 2024.
