Geoffrey Hudson’s “A Passion for the Planet” is an oratorio blending scientific prose, poetry, and sacred texts from many faiths to explore the subject of climate change. Its libretto traces an arc from beauty and gratitude into darkness, and out again into hope.
Scored for a chorus of mixed voices, children’s chorus, soprano and baritone soloists, and instrumental ensemble, its 11 movements end in a finale with performers and audience joining together to sing a simple chorale tune. Under the direction of Artistic Director Matthew Mehaffey, it’s a performance you won’t want to miss.
