At 7 p.m. we’ll head out for a 30 minute run, then come back and hear from Martinus.
Martinus Evans is the founder of the Slow AF Run Club, an online community built to inspire, educate and celebrate the grit and grind of runners at “the back of the pack.” His personal journey began ten years ago, when his doctor called him fat and told him he needed to start walking to “lose weight or die.” Faced with the shame and stigma many people in larger bodies encounter, Martinus made the choice to stand up for himself and chart his own path. “Screw walking,” he said. “I’ll run a marathon.” Ten years later, Martinus has finished over 100 races (including 8 marathons), graced the cover of Runner’s World, is a proud Boston Marathon finisher, and is the recently-published author of Slow AF Run Club: The Ultimate Guide for Anyone Who Wants to Run. When he’s not racing around the world, Martinus enjoys DJing and listening to music, watching movies with his wife Char, and playing fetch with his rescue dog Mabel. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or new to adopting an active lifestyle, he’s excited to welcome you to the Slow AF club at Fleet Feet tonight.
