Join us for a poetic Tuesday treat on March 3 with not one but TWO winners of the Lexi Rudnitsky Editors’ Choice Award, with Lansing’s own Sarah Carson, author of How to Baptize a Child in Flint, Michigan, and special guest Michelle Penaloza, winner of the James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets. We will be celebrating poet Penaloza’s recent release by Persea Press, “All the Words I Can Remember Are Poems,” a collection that challenges colonized ideas of history and truth, particularly in relation to Filipinx/a/o history and its colonization by the United States.
MSU professor and author Mike Copperman will also be leading short conversations with opportunities for audience Q&A during what promises to be a dynamic hour of readings from two distinct Michigan voices.
This event is free and open to all, but make sure to RSVP: https://forms.gle/wVtYYbJV1j3SM7em8
