About this Event
Our first Armagnac event was such a success that they heard about it all the way in France and they insisted on joining us during their Boston visit! So, of course, we said "Oui, oui!"
Our good friend, Andrew Gross, will be back to explore the Armagnacs of Hauts de Montrouge plus our special guest, Philippe Layus-Coustet, will be joining us, too! There is a $20 fee for this event, but your fee will go towards your purchase of any Armagnac bought during the event!
Guests will be greeted with a welcome cocktail and small bites, paired with the featured Armagnacs.
This rare opportunity will include five Armagnacs, from the producer Hauts de Montrouge, ranging from VSOP to vintages up to 50 years old:
- Hauts de Montrouge Hors d Age
- Hauts de Montrouge Vintage 2003
- Hants de Montrouge Vintage 1979
- Hauts de Montrouge Vintage 1973
- Croix du Rey Napoleon, Vignobles de Mandelaere
These limited editions are new to the United States and bottled exclusively for the importer. The Hauts de Montrouge Vintage Armagnacs and Croix du Rey are bottled at cask strength and no chill filtration.
Armagnac, named after the region where it comes from, was France’s first brandy. It possesses an authenticity, history and tradition dating back over 700 years. Much like wine, the land where the grapes grow make a significant contribution to what’s in the bottle. All the Armagnac we will be tasting are from the Bas-Armagnac, it’s most prestigious region.
The Hauts de Montrouge distillery and cellar is located in Nogaro in the Gers, southwest France. It brings together more than 55 winegrowers who uphold the best wine-growing tradition on more than 1,250 hectares of vineyard representing the best of Gascony know-how. The sandy terrain of the area is ideal for vines. This inimitable terroir gives grapes a strong and recognizable personality.
