About this Event

Books & Books is proud to present a morning with Daniel Arbino discussing Oumuamua. He will be in conversation with Andrea Figueroa, Director of Quillango Editores.

About the Book:

In Oumuamua, the author merges the raw vulnerability of a divorce with the enigmatic journey of an interstellar object adrift in the cosmos. This bilingual collection of seventeen poems, written in both English and Spanish, breaks conventional boundaries to explore the parallels between human absence and the solitary path of Oumuamua—the first identified visitor from beyond our solar system. Arbino’s verses, rich with celestial metaphors and scientific curiosity, resonate with the indie spirit of experimentation. The work captures the vastness of emotion through fragments of stardust, crafting a narrative where heartbreak and the universe converge in an infinite dance of wonder and longing. A truly unique and introspective piece for readers who seek poetry that defies categorization.

About the Author:

Daniel Arbino (1984) is an American writer from Cincinnati, Ohio, currently based in Miami, where he serves as the chair and curator for the Kislak Collection at the University of Miami. He earned his Ph.D. in 2013 from the University of Minnesota, specializing in Latin American literature with a focus on twentieth-century Caribbean literature, and holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of New Mexico. His academic work has been featured in renowned journals such as Latin American Literary Review, Journal of Caribbean Literatures, Aztlán, and Chiricú. In addition, his creative writing—including short stories and poetry—has appeared in publications like Santa Fe Writer’s Project, Chiricú, Divergencias, and Nos pasamos de la raya. The fusion of rigorous academic research and literary creativity positions Arbino as a notable and versatile voice in contemporary literature, where his passion for Latin American and Caribbean narratives continues to guide his exploration of a deeply personal poetic universe.
