About this Event

The Miracle In The Making Fine Art Exhibition and Holiday Sale is a world class art exhibition on its own and has traveled the country and around the world. Featuring the abstract art of John Joseph Dowling Jr. an emerging artists whos pieces started selling just 18 months ago for an average of one thousand dollars and are now being acquired by investors and collectors for tens of thousands of dollars. There are over 2500 pieces available, with over 100 large format and extra -arge format pieces on display. While Dowling's pieces are in great demand, he sells originals and prints, so price points start at $495 for some of his original works, and for professional investors and collectors pieces range between $150,000 and two million. Dowling also invites some of his friends and guest artists to exhibit their art, including Alex M. Wolff, whose underwater photography from over 37 countries is best in the nature class. Wolff also features some of his Forgotten Splatter pieces, which are abstract pieces reminiscant of Jackson Pollack-style action paintings. In addition to Dowling and Wolff, there will be a few surprise artists exhibiting and offering their finest pieces for sale at 50% off for the holidays as well. This is a MUST-SEE event for those in the art business and art enthusiasts. Dowling's work is groundbreaking and historical, especially his new American Graffiti Collection, where pieces are already being acquired for investment and esthetic purposes for six figures. The capacity for this event is 250 guests at a time, and only 250 tickets will be issued on a first-come, first=-serve basis. The Marriott Marquis Mezzanine is a world-class venue and lends itself to amazing natural light. Cocktails and reservations for dining should be made immediately upon reservation of tickets as we fully expect a sold-out venue.

Dowling’s odyssey began in the ’80s in the traditional darkroom experimenting with multiple exposure photography and hand-colored black and white prints. Once diagnosed with an incurable genetic mutation and forced to walking marathons to grow arteries because his organic arteries were being destroyed, his downtime was put to good use while recovering from this devastating illness. Utilizing his laptop, Dowling spent his time scanning and painting his photographs as a form of art therapy. Dowling is known as a master photographer and has created a tremendous amount of professional portraits, including sittings with countless celebrities, models, and politicians, as well as “walking portrait” sessions featuring wildlife, nature, as well as once in a century photojournalistic events, and life in general. Later Dowling would superimpose numerous digital paintings, taking the most attractive and interesting portions to create exquisite works of art. Dowling paints both on canvas organically and in his computer graffiti-style abstractions that are premiering at the Marriott Marquis events.

What makes Dowling’s work so unique is his use of digitally painted abstract layers that cause each viewer to have different perceptions of what they are observing. It is a unique technique that leads viewers to have false affirmations of what they see, as well as challenges the conscious mind to see what exists. The term for this psychological effect is scotomisation. These shapes, patterns, and illusions often lead to the viewer working to find objects in his pieces and to moments when the individual has a “eureka moment” or epiphany.
