About this Event
Step into a world where canvas meets cuisine! From lavish Renaissance banquets to modern minimalist plating, food has always been more than sustenance—it’s been a symbol, a story, and a work of art. Join food writer and chef instructor Shawnie Kelley for a lively and visually rich presentation exploring five centuries of “food in art,” tracing how artists have used the table to capture culture, class, and creativity. European Chef Martin Rausch’s striking vegetarian imagery provides a perfect modern bridge to begin discussing centuries-old depictions of feasts, markets, and moral tales. Expect a mix of Dutch still lifes, Renaissance masterpieces, modern artworks, a dash of Downton Abbey elegance, and images of a roasted unicorn or two—plus, of course, Peter Gabriel soundscapes, and some delicious passed small bites inspired by the art itself.
