A LOVE LETTER TO GRAVITY In this workshop we will take time to explore contact improvisation as a practice of inquiry , awarness and solidarity.
We will approach the body as a community, a web of relations that is impacting the inner and the outer space.
We will research Contact Improvisation as a practice of sensations-revolutions-choices and small/big impacts.
Diving into our tissues, the skeleton system( approching Material for the spineby Steve Pacton) breathing and imagining togheter. Rolling, falling, flying, jumping - being ready for any changes and dancing any NOW.
We will dance cooperating with gravity, with the space, with the support that we recive living in this planet earth.
Researching relations as a practice to soften our heart and make space to meet.
We will practice CI as space of exchange, solidarity, support and revolution.

In questo workshop ci prenderemo del tempo per esplorare la Contact Improvisation come pratica di indagine, consapevolezza e solidarietà.
Ci avvicineremo al corpo come comunità, una rete di relazioni che ha un impatto sullo spazio interno ed esterno
Studieremo la Contact Improvisation come pratica di sensazioni, rivoluzioni, scelte e impatti piccoli/grandi.
Ci immergeremo nello studio dei nostri tessuti, del sistema scheletrico (avvicinandoci a Material for the spine di Steve Pacton), respirando e immaginando insieme.
Rotolando, cadendo, volando, saltando - essendo pront* a qualsiasi cambiamento e danzando in ogni NOW.
Danzeremo cooperando con la gravità, con lo spazio, con il supporto che riceviamo vivendo su questo pianeta Terra.
Ricercheremo le relazioni come pratica per ammorbidire il nostro cuore e creare spazio per incontrarci.
Praticheremo la Contact Improvisation come spazio di scambio, solidarietà, supporto e rivoluzione.
Nica Portavia Bio
I was born in Fano, Italy, from an Italian father and a mother from Lebanon.
I start dancing as a child, following a Professional Dance School program before in Italy and then in Spain, Barcelona.
I am a dancer, teacher and researcher, performer in the field of Contact Improvisation.
I discovered CI many years ago, after having followed a first training in contemporary dance, and I fell in love since the first moment. �I mainly trained abroad with many teachers including Steve Paxton, Daniel Lepkoff, Charlie Morrissey,Angelika Doney, Asaf Bacharach, KJ Holmes, Anya Cloud, Karen Nelson.
I followed a training on Material for the Spine, by Steve Paxton, where I had the big pleasure to meet and study with Steve, diving completely in his research.
I followed a 3 years training called Tatto Interno ( Deep Touch) that is about the relation between fascia and the nervous system
I'm co-teaching with Karen Nelson our project called 'Faking it with gravity' and we are performing togheter our research-work called 'Smaller' that is traveling around the world.
I have taught and teach in France, Ukraine, Italy, Spain, Argentina, Russia, Poland, Germany, Lituania, Portugal.
I am organizer of national and international events,
including the Italycontactfest (International CI Festival which takes place in Italy and has now reached its eleventh edition www.italycontactfest.com) and �of Being Touch Festival (www.beingtouch.org) I was in the organization team of Ecite 2022 Portugal,of Ecite 2024.
With my CI community in bologna we are exploring the topic of Impact, dancing in public space and creating documentation and writing.

Sono nata a Fano, in Italia, da padre italiano e madre libanese.
Ho iniziato a ballare da bambina, seguendo un programma di scuola di danza professionale prima in Italia e poi in Spagna, a Barcellona.
Sono una danzatrice, insegnante e ricercatrice, performer nel campo della Contact Improvisation.
Ho scoperto la Contact Improvisation molti anni fa, dopo aver seguito una prima formazione in danza contemporanea, e me ne sono innamorata fin dal primo momento. Mi sono formata principalmente all'estero con molti insegnanti, tra cui Steve Paxton, Daniel Lepkoff, Charlie Morrissey, Angelika Doney, Asaf Bacharach, KJ Holmes, Anya Cloud, Karen Nelson.
Ho seguito un corso di formazione su Material for the Spine, tenuto da Steve Paxton, dove ho avuto il grande piacere di incontrare e studiare con Steve, immergendomi completamente nella sua ricerca. Ho seguito un percorso di formazione triennale chiamato Tatto Interno (Deep Touch) che riguarda la relazione tra fascia e sistema nervoso.
Insegno insieme a Karen Nelson il nostro progetto "Faking it with gravity" e stiamo portando avanti insieme il nostro lavoro di ricerca "Smaller", che sta viaggiando in tutto il mondo.
Ho insegnato e insegno in Francia, Ucraina, Italia, Spagna, Argentina, Russia, Polonia, Germania, Lituania e Portogallo.
Sono organizzatrice di eventi nazionali e internazionali,
tra cui l'Italycontactfest (Festival Internazionale di CI che si svolge in Italia e ha ormai raggiunto la sua dosicesima edizione www.italycontactfest.com) e il Being Touch Festival (www.beingtouch.org). Ho fatto parte del team organizzativo di Ecite 2022 Portogallo e faccio parte del team organizzativo dell ecite 2026
Con la mia comunità di CI a Bologna stiamo esplorando il tema dell'impatto, danzando nello spazio pubblico e creando documentazione e testi scritti.
