Born in Malmo, Sweden, and immigrating to the United States, Lorenz Peter Lindelof worked at many jobs before becoming a painter and eventually settling in Lafayette, Indiana. During his career, he organized locals and eventually rose up the ranks to become the longest serving general president in the history of the International Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators, and Paperhangers (now IUPAT). This presentation will examine his life and career, as presented by his great grandson, William Radell.
William Radell, M.A. is a Senior Instructional Technology Consultant with University Information Technology Services, Faculty Engagement and Outreach, in the Center for Innovation and Scholarship in Teaching and Learning at Indiana University Northwest. In 2006, he joined the Board of Directors of the Indiana County Historical and Genealogical Society in Indiana, Pennsylvania, his home town. In 2007, he was elected Vice President. During this time, William received an acknowledgement for research he did for the book, Chinese Yankee, by New York Times best-selling author, Ruthanne Lum McCunn. He also received a research credit in “Asian and Pacific Islanders in the Civil War,” a National Park Service Handbook.
For close to twenty-five years, William has been a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. He is active in both the Department of Pennsylvania and Department of Indiana and is a Union Civil War Reenactor. He also has memberships in the Sons of the American Revolution and the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States. William enjoys genealogy, researching into the stories behind family folklore and legends.
Sponsored by the National Group.
