About this Event
In celebration of Black literature, Black centric spaces and joy, Rooted MKE in collaboration with writer, organizer and book influencer Cree Myles presents a Literary Garden Party with Mateo Askaripour. Put on your best garden party attire as we dance, eat, discuss and celebrate Askaripour's second novel "This Great Hemisphere". All tickets will include a signed copy of Askaripour's book. Please note in an attempt not to be weather dependent we are hosting this party indoors.
About Mateo:
Mateo Askaripour wants people to feel seen. His first novel, Black Buck, takes on racism in corporate America with humor and wit. It was an instant New York Times bestseller and a Read with Jenna Todayshow book club pick. Askaripour was chosen as one of Entertainment Weekly’s “10 rising stars to make waves” and was named as a recipient of the National Book Foundation’s “5 Under 35” prize. His second novel, This Great Hemisphere, will be published July 9th, 2024. He lives in Brooklyn.
