About this Event
Have you ever wondered what your favorite song would sound like as a spoken word performance?? Well wonder no longer - This is the Karaoke Slam!!
Never heard of it? Here’s the breakdown: This show will have up to 16 poets performing songs of their choice as one would a slam poem! They can be deep and heartfelt or silly and evocative - either way, it’s always a good time to hear a jukebox favorite revamped as a soliloquy!
The Karaoke Slam is a Fundraiser for the Bigfoot Poetry Festival. Tickets are $10 Pre-Sale and $15 at the door.
Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm.

You don’t have to be a poet to see the shenanigans, but if you’d like to sign up, the rules are as follows: no props, no costumes, and NO SINGING! Remember: instead of singing the lyrics, you state the lyrics as you would a poem.
This will follow a standard Slam Format of each “poem” being scored on a scale of 0.0 - 10.0, with a 0.0 being “perhaps this should have been a whistle instead of words” and a 10.0 being “we need to film this and send it to the songwriter, as well as the Library of Congress, for posterity’s sake!” Each poet should bring 3 songs with them, all of which should be performed in under 3 minutes.
Rose City Guitar Company is an ADA-friendly location. There are no stairs to enter, the event is on the ground floor, and the bathroom is ADA-compliant.
