About this Event
A Great Wave - An Immigration Tale
This original play written by Tom Block, a Queens resident, will be presented as a dramatic reading.
Directed by Brenda Jones.
Set in 1892 in NYC - the play focuses on Jurgen Kocherhin and his family who emigrated from Europe, were processed in the receiving hall at Ellis Island before arriving at their final destination, College Point. Although the Jurgen family is a fictitious one, their experiences were ones like all those who traveled to America at the time for a better life.
