London's fruit trees: Join us for a summer walk through London's urban orchards.
T his is a two-hour walk starting at St James Churchyard, Bermondsey.
Join us on a Fruity Walk around Bermondsey. Starting at St James Churchyard, discover two very special young community orchards as well as the secret orchard in Southwark Park. You’ll learn about how we created the orchards, the stories behind these trees, as well as tree identification, history and folklore. Keep your eyes open for a couple of unusual trees you wouldn't expect to grow in London!
We will start in St James Churchyard and end in the south east entrance of Southwark Park, next to Surrey Quays overground. Option to walk back together towards St James Churchyard and Bermondsey Tube station. Toilet facilities are available once we enter Southwark Park.
Divya Hariramani Herrero is a modern day urban fruit tree forager and London National Park City Ranger. Divya runs the Fruity Walks Instagram page, where she maps fruit trees in the city of London and explores the stories behind these trees, how they arrived, and the people that planted them. She is a full-time Sustainable Design Consultant with a mechanical engineering background working on the built environment whilst running Fruity Walks on the side.
