FLOOD OF CREATURES, A rollicking family musical for ages 5-105 opens in Peoria, October 9, 11, 12, and 13. Director/Playwright/Composer Edith Barnard has produced this delightful show around the world and is thrilled to share it with Central Illinois benefitting PAWS.Storyteller (Mitch Gilfillan) introduces Eunice (Roxy Baker), a quirky old lady who doesn’t like animals, and finds her house invaded by a flood of eccentric creatures. These colorful critters include a goose who can't swim (Tom Biederbeck), a rooster who can't crow but sure can juggle (Ryan LaCosse), a cow that tells chicken jokes (Anne Risen), a dog that wants to be a cat (Mic Plaskon), Mr. Posh Pig (Dave Grebner ), Jenny the Goat (Jacqui Watts), Amelia the Chicken (Meyer McCord), and Clarissa the Cat (Jennifer Wieland). As her house is set adrift amid rising waters, the chaos that ensues is hilarious, full of catchy tunes that manage to be uplifting without being saccharine and a wealth of puns, alliterations and witty aphorisms: "The mind can absorb what the seat can endure!" Eunice and the animals finally learn to get along and to overcome their personal difficulties as well. A shocking ending surprises all -especially Eunice!!
Cameo appearances by “Animal Rescuers” are 7 p.m. October 9, Mayor Ali; October 11, Janet Roth; October12, Ray LaHood; and 3 p.m. October 13, Maestro George Stelluto.
