Years in the making as Chadwick makes his return home to where it all started, Chicago.
Chad Christian Anderson, known colloquially as “Chadwick”, has been a tour de force in the music and arts scenes for nearly two decades. His tenacity for all things creative have led him to excel in many different arenas, from visual arts to live music performance to fashion. After a stint at SAIC (School of the Art Institute), Chadwick found a following for his painting in the music community.
This created a path to painting live onstage with internationally acclaimed artists, including Tony Allen, Lady Sovereign, The Cool Kids, and Chicago Afrobeat Project. In 2007, he was hired to paint a 1970 Buick convertible live for the crowds at Lollapalooza. Chadwick has also fronted esteemed dance-rock band Streets on Fire, and even created a vintage couture shop called Post Op Renaissance in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.
Chadwick’s intense concentration allows a furious pace of output, but that should not be misconstrued as a lack of attention to details. Chadwick’s early output took a heavy influence from urban street art as well as the impressionists, with patterns often wrapped around central facial figures. His work of recent has focused on a unique approach that layers micro-shreds of paint in an abstract manner within more traditional backgrounds of human personas that create jarring, yet still life-reflective, juxtapositions of his subjects.
Born in 1982, Chadwick developed his passion for art in Chicago and currently resides in Los Angeles.
Join us on this special occasion as Chadwick returns home to present his newest collection of work. Music provided by DJs Gabe Palomo, Greg Corner, and Madrid. It truly will be A Family Affair. The doors will open at 5pm for early viewing and purchase as the reception begins at 7pm.
