Transatlantic duo, A Different Thread, perform their unique blend of Americana at Liverpool's Kazimier Stockroom. A Different Thread is a transatlantic collaboration, fronted by Robert Jackson from Lichfield, UK and Alicia Best from Durham, North Carolina. The two met busking in Ireland in 2016 and have been on the road ever since, touring and creating original music together.
Pulling from their respective roots, they weave together elements of 70s’ Folk Revival, Country, and Appalachian Blues into a timeless blend of Americana, delivered with breathtaking harmonies, fiddle, harmonica, guitar, ukulele, and percussion. They are joined by double bassist, Mike Seal, for a show that has garnered praise from fans and critics alike.
Folk Radio UK lauded them as “warm, deep songwriters” with “a strong, independent sound,” a testament to their word-smithery, which delves into themes of change, counter culture, travel, and the parting ways and reuniting that comes with a life on the road.
Known for their hair-raising vocal harmonies, intricate guitar, soulful fiddle, playful harmonica, and Alicia’s distinctive suitcase drum-kit, the duo has forged a minimalist yet powerful sound that resonates deeply with listeners.
