About our guest instructor:
Maestro Brian Alexander Bacher is a distinguished fencing coach with over 28 years of professional experience, bringing the art and science of fencing to students of all levels. As the third-ever United States citizen to complete the Italian National Training course conducted by the Accademia Nazionale di Scherma's Technical Commission in Naples, Italy, he holds the esteemed title of Maestro di Scherma.
Coach Brian's teaching methodology is deeply rooted in the classical Italian system, emphasizing clarity and engagement, making complex techniques accessible to beginners while providing advanced strategic insights to competitive fencers. He is expert in instructing all three weapons: foil, saber, and épée. His comprehensive thesis on fencing pedagogy is recognized as a significant contribution to the field and has been published by ANS.
Under the mentorship of renowned Maestri Igor Celli and William Gaugler, both graduates of the Accademia Nazionale di Scherma, Coach Brian has honed his expertise. Maestro Gaugler, notably the second American to earn the title of Maestro di Scherma from the Accademia in 1976, was the last American student of the legendary Aldo Nadi, who is regarded as Italy’s greatest fencer.
Coach Brian's dedication to the sport and his students is evident in his ability to inspire and develop fencers, fostering both their technical skills and passion for fencing.
