Come celebrate the launch of A DANGER SHARED: A JOURNALIST'S GLIMPSES OF A CONTINENT AT WAR, a new book collecting Melville Jacoby's striking, previously unpublished photographs of China, Vietnam, and elsewhere in Asia during World War II.
A DANGER SHARED weaves historic images of dramatic, world-changing events with glimpses of daily life’s perseverance into a visual chronicle of Asia’s experience of war as witnessed by Jacoby while he worked as a foreign correspondent covering the conflict. This collection features scenes of bombed classrooms, anxious refugees, and exhausted soldiers alongside images of everyday friendship, toil, and commerce. Together, these photos document humanity's persistence at a cataclysmic historical moment.
This event will also feature original prints of Mel's photos, chances to examine historic documents and other artifacts from Mel's time as a student and reporter in China, and more.
