About the Author
Terence Ang, formerly the Director of Digital Marketing and E-Commerce at a Singaporean electronics company, had his life altered when he suffered a stroke in August 2020. His debut book, A Cry in the Dark, depicts the immediate aftermath of this event, and the long journey of his recovery. The book gained recognition, leading to a speaking engagement at the World Stroke Congress and nominations at the Singapore Book Awards.
In his second book, Emerging from the Dark, Ang intertwines the stories of other stroke survivors with his own illustrations, providing a fresh and honest perspective on stroke recovery that emphasises optimism. This #1 bestseller on Amazon garnered numerous accolades, including the Firebird Book Award and recognition at the Hollywood Book Festival, Readers' Favorite International Book Award, NYC Big Book Award, and Global Book Awards. It has also been named a finalist for prestigious honours such as the Book of the Year Awards, Paris Book Festival, and BookFest Book Awards.
Through his personal journey and work, Ang exemplifies the enduring power of the human spirit. His story offers timely reminders that there is always hope for a brighter future, even in the darkest of times.
About the Book
It should have been the prime of his life. He had everything going for him –a successful career, meaningful relationships, the respect of his peers. All that was threatened when in one fell swoop, he found himself incapacitated by a stroke. Though the stroke rendered his righthand ‘non-functional’, sheer resilience and the power of rehabilitation enabled him to draw the illustrations in this book with that same hand. A Cry in the Dark is the powerful story of one man’s journey to rediscover and reclaim his voice, his dignity, and emerge stronger.
