would start with a discussion on creative writing, what constitutes ‘good’ writing and involve an exercise based on a prompt.
Participants may share their work, followed by feedback, a Q and A session and closing remarks.

Priya Hein is a Mauritian writer whose critically acclaimed debut novel Riambel won Le Prix Athéna 2023 and was chosen as a Notable African Book of 2023 by The Brittle Paper. The manuscript (translated by Haddiyyah Tegally) won the 2021 Prix Jean-Fanchette, chaired by J.M.G Le Clézio, winner of the Nobel Prize for literature.
In 2017 Priya was nominated by the National Library of Mauritius for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for her children’s books. In 2019, she was selected as a mentee for the University of Iowa’s International Writing Program's Women’s Creative Mentorship Project. In 2024 she participated as a fellow resident at the University of Iowa’s International Writing Program 2024 Fall Semester, USA. Her work is translated into several languages and has been featured in The Guardian, The Irish Times, The Times Literary Supplement, Le Monde des Livres, Libération, Radio France and more.
Her second novel Tamarin will be published in 2025 by The Indigo Press, London.
