Event Details:
In December 1924, James Buchanan Duke mapped out his philanthropic legacy in the Solarium at Duke Mansion. He chose two Mecklenburg County institutions of higher education - Johnson C. Smith University and Davidson College - to be a part of the generosity of The Duke Endowment. Join us for a great conversation with the two current leaders of these special institutions. This is part of our celebration of Legacy and Leadership as The Duke Endowment celebrates its 100th Anniversary.
The Rosalie Reynolds Explore History Series presented by Wells Fargo is a partnership with Duke Mansion and the North Carolina Chapter of The Institute of Classical Architecture and Art. In 2023, we lost Rosalie Wade Reynolds, the namesake of the Explore History Series. Rosalie believed in the importance of telling the Duke Mansion story and worked tirelessly to help us do that. Rosalie had deep local roots. Born in Charlotte, all four sets of Rosalie’s grandparents were also Charlotteans. We miss her energy, her kindness, and her joy.
Duke Mansion is a nonprofit historic inn, gardens and meeting place. By choosing Duke Mansion, you're choosing to be a part of history, providing vital resources to protect this community treasure.
