About this Event
This National Veterans and Military Families Month, join the New York Health Foundation’s (NYHealth) Policy and Research team for an in-person conversation exploring the past year of research from our Veterans’ Health priority area.
NYHealth used data to highlight the specific and unique challenges affecting veterans across New York State—from the need to strengthen Veterans Treatment Courts to the troublingly high rates of deaths of despair among older veterans in the Bronx—providing important information for advocates, service providers, and policymakers statewide.
The event will highlight the findings and implications of several reports, including:
- Veterans Treatment Courts in New York State: Past and Future (NYHealth)
- Navigating the Crisis: Deaths of Despair and Suicide Among New York City Veterans (NYHealth)
- Understanding Veterans in New York (RAND)
The NYHealth Policy and Research team will dive into the data behind these discoveries, discuss limitations with data sources, and share NYHealth’s vision for future research.
Speakers:
- Mary Ford, Director of Policy and Research
- Emilia Cobbs, Policy and Research Associate
- Camille Okonkwo, Policy and Research Associate
- Derek Coy, Senior Program Officer (moderator)
Lunch will be served.
