Elected at just 25 years old, Anderson Clayton is the young chair of a state political party in the United States. Manny's and San Francisco Young Democrats (SFYD) are thrilled to welcome her to San Francisco! In conversation with President of California Young Democrats, Gio Chavez, Clayton will disscuss all things rural democratic politics, the role of North Carolina and other swing states in the 2024 election, and how young people like her can step up into leadership roles across the country. Anderson Clayton serves as the current chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party. Elected at 25 years old, Anderson Clayton is the youngest chair of a state democratic party. Chair Clayton grew up in Roxboro, North Carolina and graduated from Appalachian State University. She worked on Congresswoman Kathy Manning’s congressional campaign, in Iowa as a field organizer for the presidential campaigns of Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren, and then for the Senate campaign of Amy McGrath. Prior to her election as Chair of North Carolina Democratic Party, Chair Clayton served as a chair of the Person County Democratic Party, her hometown county. Chair Clayton resides in Roxboro, NC.
Giovanni Chavez is the son of Mexican immigrants, a proud union attorney, and the President of the California Young Democrats. During his eight months as President of the California Young Democrats, the California Young Democrats has grown by 10 Young Democrat chapters, expanded its fundraising base, and built partnerships in record amount with elected officials, progressive organizations, and the house of labor. Giovanni is now leading an effort to turnout young voters to the polls in 2024 by hosting canvassing efforts across the entire state, specifically targeting underrepresented areas. With our rights and democracy on the line, Giovanni is ensuring we leave no stone unturned in the upcoming election.
