Jennifer Weiner brings charm and wit to the podium, discussing her bestselling books, personal stories, and women’s search for a sense of self. A #1 New York Times bestselling author, Jennifer has penned more than two dozen books that have sold over 11 million copies in 36 countries and have collectively spent more than five years on the New York Times bestseller list.
Her new book, The Griffin Sisters' Greatest Hits, explores sisterhood, motherhood, young love, and the dreams we chase set against the glimmering backdrop of the pop music industry. Over more than two decades, Jennifer has written compulsively readable novels with rich emotional depth that center women, exploring themes such as complex familial relationships, the challenges of being a plus-size woman, the difficulties of motherhood, rollercoaster romances, the social landscape of modern America, and, above all, the way the world treats—and mistreats—women.
Recent bestsellers include The Breakaway and The Summer Place. She is also the author of noteworthy titles such as Mrs. Everything, Good in Bed, and In Her Shoes, which was turned into a major motion picture starring Cameron Diaz, Toni Collette, and Shirley MacLaine. She is also the author of The Littlest Bigfoot middle-grade trilogy and the critically acclaimed memoir, Hungry Heart: Adventures in Life, Love, and Writing, which was a finalist for the PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay.
About The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits
Sisters Cassie and Zoe Grossberg were born just a year apart but could not have been more different. Zoe, blessed with charm and beauty, yearned for fame from the moment she could sing into a hairbrush. Cassie was a musical prodigy who never felt at home in her own skin and preferred the safety of the shadows.
On the brink of adulthood in the early 2000s, destiny intervened, and the sisters were catapulted into the spotlight as the pop supergroup The Griffin Sisters. With Cassie’s talent and Zoe’s ambition, the band soared to the top of the charts, hitting all the touchstones of early aught fame—SNL, TRL, VH1—along the way. After a year in the public eye, tragedy broke up the band.
Two decades later, Zoe’s a housewife, Cassie’s off the grid. The sisters aren’t speaking, and The Griffin Sisters are a “where are they now?” footnote in music history, with the story of their breakup still unknown. And Zoe’s teenage daughter, Cherry, is on a quest to find Cassie and learn the truth about what happened to The Griffin Sisters all those years ago.
As secrets emerge, all three women must face the consequences of their choices: the ones they made and the ones the music industry made for them. Can they forgive each other—and themselves? Can the broken bonds of their family ever be repaired? Will The Griffin Sisters ever make music again?
