About this Event

University of Cambridge Somali Society, in collaboration with other Somali societies, are delighted to announce that we will be having a speaker event with H.E. Judge Abdulqawi Yusuf, former President of the International Court of Justice(ICJ). During his illustrious international legal career, Judge Yusuf has presided over important and consequential international disputes between states. The event will discuss the rewards and challenges that come with assuming the presidency of a global court, especially in an unstable and unpredictable international environment. We'll be examining the fundamental role of the ICJ, and how the court balances state expectations. We'll also discuss Judge Yusuf's Somali cultural upbringing and how his career has been influenced by his Somali heritage. Please do take the time to attend; We're hopeful that this event will serve as an inspiration for Somali students and those interested in international law.

This event is open to everyone and will take place at 11am, Friday 6th May. This event will be hosted in room CBG.1.07, LSE Centre Building, Houghton St, London WC2A 2AE.
