A Composer’s Life: Music Entrepreneurship. A guide for stratospheric success - Theresa Martin
In today’s world, musicians must learn to be entrepreneurs. Every musician’s career is different, but they all share one goal of finding balance. Dr. Martin will discuss, from a composer’s perspective, how she juggles between composing, teaching, performing, and publishing her music, and she will share the five simple principles for stratospheric success in music that have guided her career path.

Theresa Martin is an internationally renowned contemporary composer of orchestral, band, and chamber music who holds a doctorate in Music Composition from the University of Michigan and whose works have been performed at conferences and recitals worldwide and are available on several recordings. She has composed a large catalogue of works for the clarinet, and in a recent online article was named one of history’s top 100 female clarinetists. She performs frequently on both clarinet and piano, publishes her music, has a private studio in Appleton, and also appears as guest composer at universities around the country. She currently serves as the Wisconsin State Chair of the International Clarinet Association.
