A COMPLETE UNKNOWN: FACT AND FICTIONAt The Bitter End, NYC. Friday, February 7th at 6:30 pm
With James Mangold’s Bob Dylan biopic 'A Complete Unknown' in theaters and garnering Academy Award nominations, the spotlight turns once again to the historic explosion of music and culture that occurred in Greenwich Village in the early 1960s. In this very special book talk, to be recorded for future broadcast on WBAI FM’s ‘FOLK RADIO’ program, four authors with books about the Greenwich Village music scene will discuss the film and the reality, contrasting fact and fiction. Host, musician, and author Richard Barone, who will moderate the discussion; David Browne, senior writer at Rolling Stone; renowned historian Stephen Petrus; and author Terri Thal, who was at the center of it all as wife and manager of Dave Van Ronk and first manager of Dylan, will engage in lively conversation, each from their unique perspective. Audience Q & A will follow. Books will be available for sale and signing at the conclusion of the event.
