For Legal provide you with a half-day masterclass that is packed full of insights and updates from one of the property professions' leading educator, Mark Shelton.

For Legal's in-person conference with Mark Shelton will give an update on recent developments in Commercial Property, focusing on latest caselaw developments. This session will equip busy practitioners with an overview of key developments in this fast-moving area. There will be plenty of time for questions, interaction and discussion in which Mark will answer your questions.

Commercial Property continues to undergo major changes. This session will cover three topics:

• With a review of the 1954 Act in prospect, what are the problem areas in the light of caselaw, and what changes might there be? We will consider the contracting-out process, problems in fixing the rent, and routes to cost-effective renewal documentation.

• The legal classification of parking rights as easements, licences or leases has practical consequences, and we will survey the approach o he courts to what has sometimes been a difficult issue. We will also consider recent caselaw on acquisition of parking rights by long use, and the extent to which rights may be varied pursuant to ‘lift-and-shift’ provisions.

• A caselaw round-up will consider the landmark cases of recent months, including Supreme Court cases on service charges and the law of nuisance

This conference is perfect for practitioners including solicitors and paralegals who are seeking to update their knowledge of Commercial Property, or who are considering returning to this area of law following a career break.

Level of expertise:

Delegates should have a background in Commercial Property generally, and in particular a working understanding of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954, and the law of easements.

Learning outcomes:

After this session attendees will have an increased knowledge of current issues and latest caselaw on lease renewals and parking rights. Delegates will have an update on Commercial Property caselaw generally, and be able to apply the knowledge gained in the better provision of a service to the client.

This face-to-face training course consists of an interactive presentation and digital lecture notes to refer to prior, during, and after the event.

You will be able to actively listen to the course and ask questions to the speaker.
