A City on Fire - Vox Humana sings Requiem for Oslo

Welcome to an extraordinary concert experience: The very first performance of a new Requiem! In 1624, the Norwegian capital Oslo was completely destroyed by fire. Now, 400 years later, we commemorate the city fire with the commissioned work Requiem for Oslo. In Requiem for Oslo, composer Håvard Enstad depicts the catastrophic fire that led to the city being moved west and rebuilt under the name Christiania. We are proud to perform his requiem for the very first time in Vienna, which has been Enstad´s city of residence for several years. As in a traditional requiem, the work ends with resurrection, and the last part describes the city that emerged, pointing forward to a better future.
In addition to Requiem for Oslo, the concert will feature both traditional and modern choral works. The concert takes place in the beautiful Alte Rathaus in Vienna - a historical building that predates the 1624 Oslo city fire with almost 300 years.
