About this Event
Colchester Arts Centre Director, Anthony Roberts will perform a traditional rendition of the Dickens classic, with musical accompaniment by Jamie Cunliffe.
Anthony is doing this for the wonderful Caite Smith, who was involved in an awful accident, which resulted in her having 37% burns to her body, most of which are third-degree.
Caite has now been discharged from the ITU/HDUs after removing her Tracheostomy, has physio sessions, and is cared for amazingly by the staff at Broomfield Hospital's Burns Unit. She is still planned for some minor skin graft patching, but on the whole, the surgeons are happy with her healing progress.
Caite was due to start a new job at the beginning of this term...
There is a long road ahead for Caite, Ian, and the whole family. So many people want to support them through this time, so, instead of flowers, cards, and gifts, it would be wonderful to help with the ongoing work of the Burns Unit, as they provide stimuli for immobile patients, physiotherapy, which is crucial to recovery and so much more.
When Caite returns home, there will be costs for her ongoing recovery, any adaptations needed, and other factors involved in her recovery path.
During the event, there will be refreshments and homemade goodies, available via donations, a "Christmas Carol" themed raffle, singing, and a whole lotta love!
As this is the traditional reading of such a timeless story, those under 11 may find it a bit hard going, but there's no reason why they can't come! There will be Christmas colouring and crafts available for them to enjoy during this time.
