Madison Yan presently studies under the guidance of Professor Kevin Kenner at the
Frost School of Music, University of Miami and coaches online with Dr. Richard
Bosworth. Her musical journey began at a young age, where she trained under the
tutelage of Dr. Irena Kofman.
A three-time recipient of the prestigious National Chopin Foundation Scholarship,
Madison has garnered numerous accolades on both national and international stages.
Her achievements include first prize in the William Knabe International Pian
Competition, third prize at the International Chopin Competition in Hartford, as well as
third prize and a special Chopin award of the International Keyboard Odyssiad and
Festival held in Colorado. In January 2025, she was both a semifinalist in the 11t
National Miami Chopin Competition and 6th Delegate Chopin Competition in Tokyo,
Japan.
Madison's talent has led her to perform twice with the Greater Miami Youth Symphony,
and as a featured soloist with the Alhambra Orchestra of Miami. She has also had the
privilege of participating in masterclasses with some of the world's most renowned
musicians, including Maria João Pires, Dang Thai Son, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, and Ewa
Pobłocka.
Her current activities include preparing for the 2025 National and International Chopin
Competition Warsaw. She will be appearing at Stage 7 here in Kirkland, WA to share an
all-Chopin program.
Beyond the piano, Madison is a multi-faceted artist, finding inspiration in writing, dance
and martial arts.
