Harold Jackson is a Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist and Birmingham native whose voice has shaped American journalism for more than four decades. He grew up in the Titusville community in the Loveman Village housing project and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. After attending Ullman High School for three years, he transferred and graduated from Ramsay High School when Ullman closed in 1970.
He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and political science from Baker University in Kansas. Over his distinguished career, Jackson worked for the Birmingham News, Birmingham Post-Herald, The Philadelphia Inquirer, United Press International, the Baltimore Sun, and the Houston Chronicle, where he retired in 2020. He currently lives in Houston, Texas, with his wife.
