The Purim story calls us to resist the forces that divide us, Purim gives us a beautiful sense of unity. It commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in the ancient Persian Empire.The history of Yiddishkeit is also a story of salvation. Despite attempts to eradicate its existence during the Holocaust, Yiddish, the 1000-year-old language is flourishing. People young and old, Jewish and non-Jewish, explore its rich cultural heritage all over the globe.
Polina Shepherd is one of the leading forces of the so-called Yiddish Revival, a composer, performer and cultural activist. She performs for audiences of different backgrounds and promotes building bridges and unity through music. She invites you celebrate Purim in a weave of folk songs, drinking songs, ballads, grandparents’ tales mixed with a few songs for us all to participate in.
