About this Event
Join us for a launch party in honor of Mobile mystery novel phenom Carolyn Haines on May 23, as we celebrate her latest novel, "Lights, Camera, Bones." We're rolling out all the frills for Carolyn with a specialty cocktail menu at Happy Hour pricing, putting Carolyn on the hot seat for an audience Q&A, book signing line, and, most certainly when Carolyn is involved, unknown hijinks and hilarity.
In "Lights, Camera, Bones," we step again into the shoes of the much-loved character Sarah Booth Delaney, a fiery and resourceful private investigator from the South famously described by Kirkus Reviews as “Stephanie Plum meets the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.” The drama unfolds on a movie set in Greenville, right on the Mississippi River where Delaney Detective Agency faces a unique challenge with the mysterious disappearance of a wealthy political scion while filming a story about the 1927 flood that devastated Greenville. The subsequent discovery of a severed foot suggests a disastrous encounter with a bull shark, but as rumors circulate, the human element cannot be discounted. Delaney, along with her associates, must navigate a complex maze of evidence to solve this alarming mystery.
Make sure your funny bone and curious mind are intact for this event. It is one you won't want to miss!
Book purchase from The Haunted Book Shop is required to enter the signing line.
The latest novel in the series that Kirkus Reviews characterizes as “Stephanie Plum meets the Ya-Ya Sisterhood” featuring sassy Southern private investigator Sarah Booth Delaney.
Delaney Detective Agency gets a taste of the spotlight when they are called to a case on a movie set in Greenville, MS, right on the Mississippi River. Marlon Brandon, heir to a wealthy and influential political family, has brought a film crew to town to film a drama about the 1927 flood that submerged a great deal of Greenville. Marlon wants the world to know the story of the flood—and the heroic role the Brandon ancestors played in rescuing dozens of local residents from drowning.
Or at least that was the plan until he disappeared. If that weren't concerning enough, the situation appears even more dire when a severed foot is discovered in the Mississippi River, and clues indicate that Marlon may have fallen victim to a freak bull shark attack.
But as rumors swirl around the Delta, about Marlon's motives for making the film, Sarah Booth and Tinkie have to wonder whether a shark is to blame, or an equally ferocious human offender. The show must go on, and Sarah Booth and her crew will have to investigate all manner of creatures, over land and sea, in order to solve the mystery and save the day.
