The area in and around The Carter Center property is full of Atlanta history, and this tour will showcase its natural and historic surprises. Trees witness history, discover the meeting of General Sherman's "visit" during the Civil War's Battle of Atlanta and an elegant long-standing sawtooth oak. The Atlanta protest movement of the 1960's and '70's when "white flight" created a need for car transportation and thousands of trees that paid the price, including those that used to stand in this area. See trees planted by Trees Atlanta in the 1980's after The Carter Center was constructed. You will even discover some "urban archaeology" of a lost neighborhood! This tour is perfect for history and nature lovers.
Free. Reserve a spot via the "Ticket" link on this event. You will receive a reminder email with a meeting location and any last minute updates from tour guide.
