Join us for a talk about the intersection of art and science. Italian artist Giulio Bensasson, whose work is currently featured in the "We Love Science" exhibition at IIC, will be joined by Norwegian artist Jeanette Christensen and Professor Dirk Linke from the University of Oslo. Together, they will discuss how their collaborations bridge the gap between these two fields, with a focus on programs like "We Love Science" and the "REAL art" program. Both initiatives facilitate creative exchanges between artists and scientists, inviting artists to visit research environments and draw inspiration from scientific work.
Giulio Bensasson's work explores the passage of time on materials, turning the process of transformation and decay into both an aesthetic and conceptual experience. His project for "We Love Science" draws inspiration from fluid dynamics research at the Marine Engineering Institute of the CNR.
Jeannette Christensen, in collaboration with Professor Linke, is working on the "Jelly Works" project, studying how microorganisms contribute to the breakdown of jelly materials in her art. Their research explores the balance between control and unpredictability in the creative process.
The event will be introduced and moderated by Anja Røyne, senior lecturer at the Department of Physics and KURT – Centre for Teaching and Learning in Science and Technology, University of Oslo and responsible for the REAL art program.
