Margaret Doane is a wife and a Mother of 6. Margaret was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in December of 2017. She had a double mastectomy and received chemo/radiation treatments. Margaret’s cancer went into remission where it remained for 5 years. In July of 2022, Margaret had just seen her oncologist and was told that she was still in remission and that my cancer would not likely, at this point, come back. Two days later, Margaret’s right shoulder and face swelled up and her right pupil was a different size. She was immediately taken to the ER. After running several tests, as well as imaging, Margaret was told to see her oncologist. The Oncologist told Margaret that the cancer was back. She was diagnosed with a very aggressive, Stage 4, Triple Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer. Currently Margaret has to go to the Henry Ford Cancer Center in Detroit for chemo every Friday with the 3rd Friday off. These treatments not only take a toll physically on Margaret but also financially.
After 5 years in remission, this diagnosis is not only devastating news for Margaret and her family but it is a huge financial burden on them as well. We, the Because It Matters Project, would really like to help Margaret and her family out. We hope that you will join us on February 17th for a euchre tournament and Chili Cook Off. All proceeds will go to the Doane family to help them through this very difficult time.
