Alma will run you through different tools for different functions and their techniques. You'll also learn about different types of wood. During class you'll get all the know-how and guidance to design and carve your own wooden spoon.
What will we cover?
In this hands-on and informative class, we will:
- Begin with a discussion on types of wood, a guide for the tools you will be using during class, and a general overview of various wooden carving techniques.
- You will get the chance to practice the correct usage of hand tools and feel confident in making a piece of your choosing.
- After you have the basic understanding required to carve different styles, Alma will lead you in using different carving knives to make a wooden spoon.
- After carving, you can use different hand tools and paper for sanding, and finish by oiling your piece.
- At the end of the class, you will get to take home a one-of-a-kind hand-made spoon that will last a lifetime.
