9th Annual Who is Jay? Mental Health Symposium

Join us for the 9th Annual Who is Jay? Mental Health Symposium, a thought-provoking event aimed at creating awareness and understanding about mental health. Presentations are planned to offer topics and information beneficial to both professionals working with adults and adolescents and community members with a general interest in learning more about mental health.

Admission/registration includes the full day of presentations and speakers, parking at the Ocean Center, lunch, and morning and afternoon refreshments.

The event features keynote presentations by Gaelin Elmore (keynote speaker, trainer and belonging advocate) and Mark Henick (suicide attempt survivor, mental health advocate, and Principal and CEO of Strategic Mental Health Solutions).

Other presentations will address the following:

  • Erasing the Belonging Gap/Making a Difference in the Lives of Youth You Serve - presented by Gaelin Elmore (this is an in-depth workshop expanding on his keynote presentation)
  • Understanding military culture and working with Veterans and their families - presented by Dr. J. Salvatore Alberico (Army Veteran, mental health professional serving Veterans and their families at a VA clinic in Florida - Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology with a Military Emphasis)
  • Human 'Nature: The search for meaning and wholeness in relationship to all other living things - presented by Dr. Carlene Taylor, LMHC, ESMHL, ERYT (Clinical Assistant Professor & Director, Integrative Behavioral Health Clinical Training Center, Dept. of Public Health, Brooks College of Health, UNF)
  • Using neuroscience to identify and treat mental health challenges - presented by Dr. Emily Kalambaheti (Chief Clinical Officer and Director of Rehabilitation at Genesis Brain Institute, clinical neuroscientist and healthcare professional) and Martha Rhodes (Author of 3,000 Pulses Later, patient and patient advocate)
  • Helping Helpers Thrive - going beyond generic advice about burnout to personal understanding of what it takes to thrive - presented by Dr. Samantha Rae (licensed psychologist with her own specialized practice, writer and speaker)
  • The connection between mental health and substance use disorders - presented by Kelly D'Elia, APRN, SMA Healthcare, FACT
