Our 90th Anniversary Opening Night begins with Franz Schubert’s overture to "Rosamunde," performed in our Philharmonic’s Inaugural concert in 1934. The Orchestra continues the program with Adam Schoenberg’s "Orchard in Fog," composed in 2018 and written specifically for our Guest Artist Anne Akiko Meyers, one of the world’s most esteemed violinists. Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony is one of his most famous and popular works. The first movement is dark and brooding and opens with a fanfare from the brass that depicts fate. The finale is virtuosic and breathtaking, like 90 years with our Orchestra!Guest Artist Sponsors are Caroline Fairbanks, Judith L. Fiddick, and Susan Vaughn. Music Sponsor is Anonymous.
Prior to the concert, join Music Director Roger Kalia at 6:10 p.m. in the hall for a pre-concert chat. Following the concert there will be a dessert reception for the entire audience made possible by our generous and loyal tristate restaurants, caterers, and hotels.
