The intention of the festival is to give the audience the opportunity to gain insight into the social, political, and cultural situations in various countries around the world. We therefore offer a necessary, complementary source of knowledge to the daily news, enabling the audience to sharpen their political and social awareness. We seek to address the key issues of our time. The filmmakers, on the other hand, risk great things in their own countries, sometimes even their lives, to present these films to the public, films that often cannot be shown in their own countries.
The festival also offers a wide variety of audiovisual productions to draw attention to the diverse, sometimes misleading or suggestive, forms of representation of reality. This, too, is a contribution to the emancipation of the responsible citizen.
Many of these films would otherwise be virtually inaccessible to the public because they circulate outside commercial mechanisms.
