About this Event
Join us for Madison College's 8th Annual First-Generation Event, a day dedicated to celebrating the resilience and achievements of first-generation college students. This year's focus is on Empowering First-Gen Wellness!
This event begins by celebrating and highlighting the importance of first-generation presence in higher education and within helping fields. We will then induct new members into the prestigious Tri-Alpha Honor Society, recognizing first-gen academic excellence and those who are trailblazers in their families.
This year, we will have guest panelists addressing essential topics such as overcoming imposter syndrome, establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries, psychological first aid and crisis prevention, and practical strategies for self-care in times of stress.
Take time to recharge at wellness stations that offer yoga, sound meditation, creative art activities, fitness, and more. Attendees will have the chance to network, share experiences, and build community over a nourishing lunch, making it a day filled with inspiration, connection, and self-care.
A Flow Yoga class may include standing, seated, or floor postures. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing that will make them comfortable in various poses and allows for easy movement. This is a physically active class. Options and modifications for poses will be provided. Props (chairs, cushions, blocks, straps) may be incorporated into class. Mats are provided, or participants may bring their own.
By registering for this class, you are agreeing to and understand that any movement practice or exercise modality has inherent risks. You accept those risks and all responsibility for your practice. Always consult a physician before exercise.
