Most Fayetteville residents have a unique origin story. They come from all corners of the United States and cross oceans for military orders, job changes, or pursuit of the American dream. Nickoy Haughton is no different. Nickoy Haughton was born and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica and at the young age of 17 migrated to the United States to pursue his bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management. Nickoy was quickly inspired to start his own business combining his passion for business operations and love for authentic Jamaican cuisine. A Jamaican food truck was the perfect way to intertwine these skill sets. Nickoy then started to consult with the Women’s Business Center of Fayetteville to help turn this vision into reality.
Nickoy met with business consultant Sara Marada-Kanady from start to finish. When he first met with WBCFay he had a strong concept but needed to get his ideas onto paper. “He worked incredibly hard creating his business plan. As soon as he was ready to apply for his first business loan CEED was happy to assist him,” says Sara.
His new business venture “876 Flavaz” derives from the area code of the beautiful island of Jamaica and the unique flavors of spices and herbs that make up his authentic Jamaican dishes. 876 FLAVAZ is dedicated to providing mouth-watering, home-cooked meals for residents in and around the Fort Bragg/ Fayetteville area. Director Katlin Neese said “WBCFAY is excited to see him contribute to our unique entrepreneurial ecosystem. Food trucks are the perfect way to serve meals cleanly and efficiently post covid.”
Nickoy’s work ethic, perseverance, and creativity are the perfect example of what embodies the American entrepreneur. WBCFay is excited to help host the Grand Opening of 876 Flavaz on Saturday, June 19 at 1:00 pm. 876 Flavaz Truck will be located in front of 6243 Yadkin Rd #103 in Fayetteville NC. 876 Flavaz will start serving hungry locals!
