German POWs were brought to Myrtle Beach during WWII to supplement the work force in the timber industry, on farms and at the town’s Army Air Corps airfield. See where they arrived, go to where they lived, experience how they worked, enjoy what they ate, and hear about what it was like for them from 1944 – 1946. A motor coach will take guests from The Market Common to significant locations in both Myrtle Beach and Conway, SC. Stops include a living history farm, county museum and an you can eat buffet lunch of local Southern fare. They will return to The Market Common where there is ample free parking. This one-day-only tour commemorates the 80th Anniversary of the POWs' arrival in Myrtle Beach on Thursday, June 8, 1944, forty-eight hours after D-Day.
