8 Week Workshop - Learn Joseph Pilates' Method

In our first session, we break down the 6 principles of Pilates. You will learn what a neutral spine is and when and how to move in and out of it. We then begin our progression through the Classical repertoire. Starting with footwork, conscious breathing, and our new understanding of a neutral spine. Then we advance to the 100, challenging our ability to control our movement. My goal is to let you experience as much of the 39 different choreographies the first night so that you gain an understanding of where your strengths and weaknesses are.The class is structured towards the abilities of the group and tailored to your level of experience. This lays the foundation we will build upon in the following weeks. 

In the succeeding weeks we will continually check in and reflect on how you are incorporating the principles of Pilates in your life. I invite you to share your thoughts and takeaways from the prior week. Informed by everyone’s experience we will progress through the repertoire as able. At this time we often use different apparatus that Joseph Pilates invented. This is to help you feel the action in different planes of motion and then we bring it back to the reformer.

The second session is a re-cap of the first week. Here, I invite you to share your thoughts and takeaways from the prior week. To ask questions and share your experience. After our discussion the work begins.  I use the knowledge of the previous week to bridge the gap in understanding the movement and then we progress through the repertoire as able. At this time we often use different apparatus that Joseph Pilates invented. This is to help you feel the action in different planes of motion and we then bring it back to the reformer. This is so we can maintain integrity of the action and safety of the participant
